Maria Elisabeth Rehbinder is Senior Legal Counsel at Aalto University and Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/E) . She advises faculty and and staff on legal issues related to research data and personal data, research data sharing and research data licensing. Ms. Rehbinder has been involved in drafting Aalto University Privacy Policy and has drafted GDPR compliant document templates for researchers, together with researchers and staff from Aalto University Research and Innovation Services. These templates include privacy notice templates, consent or participation confirmation and a joint controllership agreement between researcher and university. She has been involved in producing a new questionnair template for the Aalto University Research Ethics Committee. Ms. Rehbinder is now a member in a working group drafting a Code of Conduct for Scientific Research in Finland and a member of the TUTTI working group for data protection, chaired by the Data Protection Ombudsman of Finland.
Ms. Rehbinder also works with copyright, trademark and design law. She was a member of Ministry of Education and Culture Open Science and Research Initiative legal working group. Her team translated the Creative Commons 4.0 licenses into Finnish. She is a member of the Copyright Council of the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture. She has previously worked for a copyright collecting society.
